about

One Exploded Composition is the vertical to Six Tape Works' horizontal. In one I show my left hand, in the other my right. I hope together they can more fully examine creation as a continual process rather than an ex nihilo construction of individual works. When the magic of a recording studio is available to anybody with a computer and a DAW, are control and artifice strictly necessary or desirable? Do better tools make better music?

This is my second multitrack release in about 18 months of focusing on improvisation and live recording. It was first released in the NOISE IS POLITICAL compilation on September 4, 2020 as '9 of Pentacles'.

I have always felt an affinity to water in my field recordings. The included water recordings are some of my personal 'greatest hits.' Snake Priest II was my last multitrack recording as Tvordis Veeler, and my last guitar work. I added layers of field sound and melody over the years, but I was never quite satisfied with the mix. About an hour with my new ears set it right. I have placed it in several other releases, including ENERGY/RESONANCE, but this incarnation is unique.

soft dada transitional moment is part of a 25 minute phonomanipulation performance on WHPK's Radio Dada in 2015. Those sessions where I practiced using the broadcast studio as an instrument were illuminating, and one of my first experiences with the joyous evolving nature of three out of sync loops.

Most of my releases contain sounds which can be heard elsewhere in other ways. This is no exception.
